The machine is destined for the
automatic winding of armatures with stack diameter of 53
mm and slot type commutator I.D. 35.8 mm. Minimum of
adjustments and tooling are required for the machine to
be set to process workpieces of various diameters and
sizes including different shaft length. Main machine
components are:
- machine frame;
- workpiece angular positioning unit;
- wire guiding and processing mechanism;
- flyers;
- wire tensioning devices;
- workpiece feeding manipulator;
- mechanism for checking of commutator angular
positioning with respect to the armature stack;
- workpiece conveyor with shifting mechanism;
The machine frame is made out of square steel
tubes and solid plates.
The angular positioning unit ensures the
orientation of the armature during the winding process.
The workpiece spindle drive is actuated by means of
servo-electric motor through HTD belt transmission. The
spindle unit carries a collet mechanism for the
workpiece shaft clamping.
The wire-guiding and wire-processing mechanism
consists of set of units that perform insertion of the
coil ends into the commutator slots and their caulking.
Two winding mechanisms (flyers) are provided on
both sides of the armature for winding of the wire. The
winding process is performed by means of servo-electric
motors through belt transmissions that actuate the
rotation of the two flyers. Flyer winding speed, as well
as acceleration during the working process are controlled
by PLC as part of the program parameters. Quality of
winding is acquired by appropriate altering of parameter
values.
The machine is equipped with wire-tensioning
mechanisms featuring mechanical feedback and
pneumatic alteration of the wire tension force during the
various steps of the working cycle. The machine program
controls the process by means of electro-pneumatic
proportional valve.
The workpiece-feeding manipulator orientates
precisely the angular position of the armatures with
respect to the stack slots and carries them from the
entry magazine to the working zone and back.
The mechanism for checking of commutator angular
positioning with respect to the armature stack: after
workpiece positioning and clamping inside the loading
collet, commutator angular orientation is checked with
respect to the armature stack, thus allowing fault
detection.
The workpiece conveyor together with its shifting
mechanism ensures workpiece loading/unloading and
transportation.
Machine controls and mechanics allow performing of
various types of winding diagrams by using the touch
screen control panel, providing easy access to the main
menu and fast changing of menu pages. Up to 30 programs
can be stored in machine memory, saving information about
armature type, winding diagram, wire-tension force etc.
All working operations are performed accurately and in
time saving way, so to reduce the total cycle time.
Wire-tension force adjustment during the working cycle,
as well as the design of the wire-tensioning device and
wire-contact elements allow preserving wire coating and
avoiding cross-section reduction. Armature winder is
reliable and flexible machine proving quality products in
high production rate.
