VERTICAL BENCH-TYPE AUTOMATIC LATHE FOR FACE TURNING OF THE CONTACT WASHER OF STARTER SOLENOID PLUNGERS 77100 (ACM 04)
The face turning device is a small special-purpose vertical lathe. The headstock is fixed to the upper part of the welded-steel C-shaped bed. It carries the spindle, supported by taper roller bearings and the vertical shaft of the toolholder. A V-belt translates the rotation from the AC induction motor to the spindle. A parallel V-belt transmission actuates the cam mechanism for the feed movement of the tool. The complete armature unit is placed manually into the hole of the live center on a supporting shoulder, which is rotating around a horizontal axis. After the start signal (given by a push-button), the live center shoulder turns around his axis by means of a pneumatic cylinder and press the backside of the contact washer against the spindle nose to avoid slipping during the face turning operation. The spindle starts automatically, together with the feed movement. In about 200 revolutions the face turning is achieved, the tool jumps to its initial position and the spindle stops, together with the withdrawal of the live center and the machined part.
